Fabulous Lashes For The Last Of The Festive Season.

First off, semester one of second year at uni is over, and as creating this blog was essentially a piece of coursework, I don't need to continue making posts. HOWEVER, I've enjoyed blogging so much that I've decided to keep SuzyBlue alive and continue blogging until my hearts content! Moving on....

I hope everyone has had a brilliant christmas! Mine was fantastic-being home surround by family and friends is just perfect and I don't want it to end and I refuse to believe Christmas is over!!

That being said, New Years is just around the corner which brings me to this post. I'm quite excited about this as I was actually requested to do this post, which made me very happy as now I know at least one person enjoys my blog!! By the title, you can probably tell what this is going to be about...FALSIES!

False eyelashes are one of my most favourite beauty essentials, they add instant glamour to every look but it can be extremely tricky to apply them until you master the skill! This is where I come in! I'm going to show you a few tips and tricks I've picked up along the way for quick and easy eyelash application.

The lashes I'm using today are the special addition Girls Aloud 10th Anniversary eyelashes. I saw these in Superdrug and just HAD to have them. The lashes get noticeably thicker towards the edges which makes for a great cat eyed effect.

Start by opening your lashes and giving them a little bend and a wiggle to loosen them up from being set in the packaging. I like to place the eyelashes between tweezers as I find it's easier to work with. Apply a thick layer of glue to the rim of your lashes and wait for it to get tacky (I usually blow on mine for around 30 seconds) If your lashes are still super wet from the glue, they will be sliding all over the place when you try to stick them down which makes the process even more fiddly than it already is!

Still holding the lashes in your tweezers, apply the MIDDLE of your fake eyelashes to your lash line. Wait a couple of more seconds so they really stick down. Next using your fingers, or your tweezers (which ever is easiest) push the outer edge of your false lashes down on to your lash line. Press and hold for a few seconds.

Next press the lashes down into the inner corner of your eye. I then like to lightly pinch my fake eyelashes together with my real eyelashes to help them blend together, this also helps push them right down into your lash line for a more realistic look. If you apply your lashes too high up on your eyelid, it looks ridiculously fake and unnatural-BE AWARE!

I like to gently push my lashes upward so they don't stick straight out and then press them down one last time with the opposite end of my tweezers just to make sure they are well and truly stuck!

The next few steps are optional, I like to do this to help blend the fake lashes into my real lashes for a more natural and realistic look. Taking a black eye pencil, line your upper lash line blending down to hide the rim of your falsies. I also like to line or "tightline" my upper waterline line just so there is no pale gap between my waterline and where my fake eyelashes are glued on.

I then like to very GENTLY curl my fake lashes and real lashes together. Be careful if you decide to do this step, pressing down too hard with your eyelash curler will result in you having weird, spider like lashes-not a good look! Finally blend your lashes together with mascara and you're all done!

TADAA!! Fabulous eyelashes in just a few simple steps!

I hope this little picture tutorial has been somewhat helpful and that all you ladies are strutting around with super fabulous lashes on new years!

Happy New Year when it comes and be safe whatever you're doing. As my dad would say, "Be good, but if you can't be good, be careful" Hope you all have a great night tomorrow,

Until next time,
Stay classy,

Photo shoot fun: Smiles, Sparkles and Silly Faces!

So last week I got to do something super fun! My friend Sarah who's a photography student at Aberdeen College asked if I would model for her as past of a photo shoot she had to set up for coursework. I love any excuse to be in front of the camera so I happily obliged. The shoot was SO much fun, channeling the idea of Diesel's Fall/Winter ad campaign, I pretty much got to goof around and pull silly faces the whole time! And playing with confetti was definitely my favourite part!

My entire outfit is from Topshop. You can purchase the studded bralet here and the jeans are unfortunately not on sale anymore however these ones are similar.

I absolutely adore this bralet! It's so versatile and can be worn on its own (if brave enough) or layered underneath a sheer shirt for an edgier take on a classic feminine look. Here are a couple of other bralets that are on my wish list...

TOPSHOP £30.00

With only 12 sleeps until christmas, I hope you're all feeling fabulously festive!
Until next time,

Steal Her Style: Eleanor Calder

If you don't know who One Direction are, then frankly, you must have been living under a rock for the past two years! However, someone who may not be so well known, is the beautiful girl who is often seen hanging off the arm of Louis Tomlinson, Eleanor Calder. Being a One Direction fangirl myself, I pretty much know everything about them-ages, middle names, where they are, and of course, who they're dating-I know it all! Since Louis is mega famous for being 1/5 of arguably the biggest boy band in the world right now, he is pretty much pictured everywhere he goes, and it's rare if he's not seen with Eleanor by his side. Over the past few months, i've noticed that Eleanor has impeccable style. It is often  very simple and she is definitely one for mixing high street bargains with high end luxuries. So, for any fashionista who wants to steal her style, I've sourced a few of her outfits from the past couple of days and put them together in a handy little guide for you...enjoy!

Okay, so some of El's items are raaaather pricy, but I hope these little style guides help give you some inspiration and ideas to channel her style and definitely find some cheaper high street copies...

Until next time,

Photoshoot fun/ Derailed trains/ The cold from HELL!!

Well, what a busy, busy week it's been! Sadly, I was ill for most of it which meant I had to miss one of my favourite events of the year - Halloween :( I have to admit, being all alone in the flat while every man and his dog was out partying in Aberdeen, and then seeing all the pictures on Facebook the next day was pretty soul destroying. But hey, this means that sometime soon my flatmates and I will have to organise a fancy dress party at our place so I can wear my costume... I guess you could say there's a silver lining in the cloud!

A highlight of the week though was definitely Saturday! As you probably already know, for university we have to complete a photo shoot/fashion spread for this years RGU fashion management magazine and our group had a BALL!! A few last minute complications meant that I had to step up to the plate and model for our group, which naturally, I was extremely nervous about to begin with, but it turned out to be a whole lot of fun and more! Our photographers were amazing and completely captured the theme and look we were going for! Here is a wee behind the scenes look at our "shipwrecked" shoot:

Freezing my tiny self off for an hour and a half on a very cold afternoon on the beach was totally worth it because the pictures turned out GREAT! Who wants a sneaky peak?...

Okay, thats your lot for now!

So after a long busy week, there was nothing I was looking forward to more than visiting home for a whole 6 days, to relax and spend some quality time with my family... If only things were that simple! Due to a train derailment between Montrose and Arbroath on Sunday morning, all Aberdeen-Edinburgh trains were cancelled, which meant my trip home had to be delayed by a day. Sad times. Managing to book a cheap train home last night (first class on East Coast, may I add...) for this afternoon, waiting an extra day to go home didn't seem that bad at all... If only things were that simple! On awakening this morning to find that there were still no trains running south of Montrose, I got myself in a state wondering if I would ever get home for this week! Luckily, Scotrail were running buses to Dundee train station to replace the cancelled trains, so after a long bus ride, further followed by a long train ride to Stirling, nothing made me happier than seeing my dad's smiling face waiting to pick me up at the station. After a long day of traveling I am finally home and blogging from my cozy living room, surrounded by family... bliss.

Being home for the week means i'll have a ton of time to post lots of fashion-y related things on my blog so watch this space!

Until next time,
Stay Classy,

Suz x

Oh hey there...

Firstly, i'd like to apologise for the lack of posts last week, i've been struck down with a terrible cold and was practically bed bound for 4 days...NOT FUN. Anyway I'm feeling a bit better and back with a massive big juicy post for you to feast your peepers on!

This coming saturday is going to be super exciting as its PHOTOSHOOT DAY!! As part of our coursework at uni, we have to plan and organise every aspect of a fashion shoot to be published in this years Robert Gordon fashion magazine! Exciting huh?! I can't give too much away yet, but somehow I've ended up being my groups model so saturday is going to consist of me frolicking in the sea, posing on the sand, and generally being FREEZING cold on the beach! After having a makeup and hair trial with Maddie yesterday, we came up with sort of an edgy, mermaid-esque look which leads me on to this post as I thought it could double as a last minute halloween tutorial for any of you lovely ladies who haven't thought of an outfit for tomorrow yet! So, without further a do, lets get started!

Prior to this tutorial, I've already applied my foundation, concealer, blusher and filled in my eyebrows. I've also included links to the websites of every product mentioned in this post.

We're going to start by applying a base to the eyelid to prime our eyes before the eye shadow.
I've chosen two of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow, in "Turquoise Forever" and  "Eternal Silver",  starting with the silver colour on the inner corner of your eye and the turquoise colour on the outer corner.

Next I'm taking the colour "Virgin" from Urban Decay's Naked Palette and placing it on the inner corner of my eye, on top of that silver base we just applied.
Then, taking the colour "Flipside", also by Urban Decay, I'm applying this to my outer corner.

Next I'm taking the colour "deep truth" by MAC on a small shader brush and drawing a sharp line on the crease of my eye. Im also going to drag this colour out into a slight wing to make the look more dramatic.

Taking a blending brush, I'm running it all over my eye to blend in the colours and get rid of any super harsh lines. Im also running that "deep truth" colour under my eye on the lash line.

Next, line your upper lash line with liquid eyeliner and apply false eyelashes (optional).

Finally for the eyes, apply mascara to blend your false lashes into your natural lashes and apply the "virgin" colour we used at the start to highlight our brow bone. This is also optional but I lined my waterline with Barry M's Shimmering Eye and Lip Crayon in number 4, to make my eyes look bigger and more awake!

Moving on to the lips, I'm lining them with Maybelline's Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in "Turquoise Forever" (the base we used on our eyes at the start) and slightly smudging it down towards the centre of my lips. Next, I'm filling in the rest of my lips with  Barry M's Shimmering Eye and Lip Crayon in number 4.

Now for the fun part! Using a foundation brush, I'm applying, again, Maybelline's Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow, this time in the colour "Eternal Silver", over one side of my face and blending it down onto my cheekbone. Next, taking a square of cross stitch fabric, I picked up at HobbyCraft, I'm securing it with a kirby grip at the top of my head, and using a small square of tape, taping it down onto my neck.

Taking an eyeshadow brush and the two turquoise and blue eyeshadows we used on our eyes earlier, I'm running the brush over the squares, starting with the dark blue colour at my hairline, fading into the turquoise colour onto my cheeks. When you remove the cross stitch fabric, your face should look something like this...

Lastly, taking some self adhesive gems, also from HobbyCraft, I'm randomly sticking them on top of my "scales." If you're having trouble making them stick to your face, you can apply a small dot of eyelash glue to the gem and that will help it stay in place all night.

And thats it for the makeup...MERMAIDALICIOUS!

Since I am ridiculously poor at the moment, I do not have the money to go out and buy a brand new mermaid costume to go with my makeup, SO, being a fashion student, I managed to dig out some clothes that I already own from my wardrobe and turn myself into a DIY mermaid!

My blue shirt is from Forever 21 and both my skirt and my leggings are from H&M.

I hope I've given you who haven't decided on a halloween costume some inspiration for tomorrow, or maybe some inspiration for an upcoming fancy dress party? Either way I hope you've found this post helpful and enjoyable!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Have a wonderful day/night tomorrow and stay safe!

Lots of love,
Stay classy
