♡Christmas Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe♡

One of my favourite things about the Christmas season is when Starbucks and Costa release their holiday menu. Their festive themed drinks are so creative and always taste so divine. My favourite this season has to be Costa's Black Forest hot chocolate - it legit tastes like a gâteau in a mug...delicious!

Saying that, one of my all time favourite festive drinks has to be Starbucks's peppermint hot chocolate - I love it so much that I decided to try and recreate the recipe at home. And it worked so well that I just had to share it with you guys too!

The pictures above pretty much explain the steps you take to make the drink, however I will mention that whisking the milk into the after eight paste until it becomes totally smooth does take a while! Also make sure the heat on your hob isn't too high as the chocolate will end up burning and your drink will be ruined!

Let me know how you get on if you try this recipe and if you enjoy it!

Happy december!

♡DIY: Christmas Decoration Ideas♡

Christmas is my FAVOURITE time of the year and yes, I am that girl who always wants to start decorating and getting into the Christmas spirit ridiculously early!! Last week, our flat caught the craft bug, we've been busy bee's making and creating our own Christmas decorations! We got most of our ideas from Bethany Mota's "roomspiration" video, although we put our own little twist on each of the decorations.

Something as simple as changing your bedding can make a HUGE difference to your room and definitely gives it more of a festive feel. I switched up my regular pink floral bedding with this red and navy fairisle print set from Primark (£16). The reindeer throw (£5) and the red and white pillows (£7/£3) were also from Primark. I think this is a great, easy, inexpensive way to give your room a more Christmassy feel!

Accessories such as fairy lights and candles can also add that little something extra to your room. I picked up these white fairy lights from Primark for £3, and most of the candles I have in my room are from the Yankee Christmas collection…DIVINE!! Lastly, I placed some miniature baubles on my bedside table which I picked up from my local craft store for £7 (I think!) just because I thought it looked cute and Christmassy!

The first thing we decided to "make" were these super adorable Christmas jars. Again, really easy, really cheap. Everything we bought to make these were picked up from our local craft store. All you need is a clear glass jar, and then any christmassy type garland decorations to fill it! We opted for gold leaves, sparkly red berries, pine needles glittery stars and fake snow. Chuck 'em all in your jar, give it a shake, pop the lid on, tie a bow around it et voila! You're done! How easy was that?!

We also made some Christmas themed frames. All you need is a deep box frame, felt lettering, Christmas paper and Christmas decorations to fill your frame with. Open up the frame, glue the christmas paper to the inside back panel of the frame, place the decorations of your choice on the inside of the glass, put the frame back together and then stick a phrase of your choice on the front of the glass with the lettering. And thats it! Super simple but really effective!

So those are my ideas to spice up your room for Christmas. I hope you enjoyed reading and if you try out any of these tips, be sure to let me know how you get on!

HOL-Y-CR-AP LADIES LISTEN UP! This is a beauty revelation you are not going to want to miss!

Around a week or so ago I popped into Boots to pick up some makeup wipes and, as usual, I got distracted and ended up having a wander up and down the makeup aisles. I usually refrain from going over to the  "high end" makeup section as I am weak, the girls are persuasive, and I end up spending a fortune! But I noticed an unmanned Benefit counter so decided to go over and have a look myself. At first I thought about treating myself to a new bronzer, but then remembered a girl from work telling me how amazing their Watts Up! highlighter is - and as soon as she mentioned it's a favourite of celebs such as Millie MacKintosh, I knew I had to get my hands on it!

Watts Up! (£24.50) is a champagne hued cream-to-powder highlighter that’s designed to work on all complexions. Now, i've tried many highlighters over the years but NOTHING compares to this one! It glides on effortlessly and is so easy to blend thanks to the little domed sponge that comes on the opposite end of the stick. It sits well over makeup, not looking thick or cakey, as well as looking great on bare skin. The glow this product gives to your face is unbelievable - it just adds that little something extra that you think your face is missing but can never figure out what! You can see from the swatches above how nicely it sits on the cheekbones without making the underneath makeup separate and look "bitty" on the skin (like I find High Beam can do)

I could rave about this product for hours on end, definitely a 10/10 and my new makeup staple which will be taken with me wherever I go!

♡FOTD: Little Mix "Move" Jade Thirlwall♡

I'm not even ashamed in the slightest to say I'm a Little Mix fan, they're all gorgeous and i'm a sucker for bubblegum pop! I'm addicted to their new song and upon watching the video, I instantly fell in love with Jade's makeup - she's such a BEAUT! So today's look was inspired by her: a neutral winged eye and a bright fuchsia lip.

♡OOTD: SuzyBlue Fluffy In Blue♡

So my new Topshop fluffy knit is my favourite thing on this earth!! It's so soft and cosy, perfect for the transition from Autumn to Winter. I was feeling really casual today, so paired the jumper with a pair of jeans (which I DIY ripped myself) and converse. Perfect for a long day at uni...

♡Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation♡

Soon after I moved back up to Aberdeen around a month ago, to my dismay I discovered I had left my foundation back home! In a state of sheer panic I jumped on the bus to ASDA and picked up the cheapest one I could find in the makeup aisle. I ended up purchasing Rimmel's Stay Matte foundation, which had just been released at the time. I am a massive massive fan of their Stay Matte Powder, which is ultimately what pushed me to choose this foundation.

I have never been a fan of matte foundations, I much prefer a more luminous finish, and this foundation has reminded me why I vowed never to buy a matte finish foundation again! The first issue I had was the formula was SO thick - as you can probably see from the swatch above, it is an incredibly heavy, mousse like texture, which instantly cakes when applied to the skin. It is also really hard to blend, and clings to dry patches on the face. I tried many different primers and moisturisers on my skin before applying the foundation but unfortunately, nothing seemed to help smooth it out.

However, in saying that, this product did have a few good points. It definitely evens out the skin tone and conceals redness and it also has amazing staying power - this is the first foundation i've come across that pretty much lasts all day!

I mean, if you're a fan of thick, full coverage foundation, you will most likely love this product, it's Rimmel's answer to Dream Matte Mousse. As for me, I am just glad to have my beloved YSL Touché Eclat foundation back where it belongs! If you've tried this product, let me know how you got on, perhaps it's just my skin type that disagrees with the formula? Who knows, maybe it's your holy grail foundation!...

This week, i've been bunged down with an awful chest infection so I haven't been able to go out and take my usual outfit of the day pictures or do a face of the day post! So today to cheer myself up, I was internet "browsing" and put together a little collage of things I plan to treat myself to on payday...the nine day countdown is on!

♡FOTD: Pleasantly Purple♡

Since I had some extra time this morning, I decided to spend a bit longer on my makeup and try something more fun this tuesday! I rarely venture out and use colour on my eyes, I always always end up just doing different variations of browns, creams and golds, so using pinks and purples today was a big step!

I think it turned out pretty nicely, its fun, but still subtle enough to wear everyday, perhaps i'll try being braver and add a splash more of colour to my makeup routine!
Let me know what you think?
